Campaign Description
The Pralarg Prison Intervention Project is a humanitarian and justice-focused initiative of Pralarg International, designed to support rehabilitation, legal assistance, and reintegration for inmates in major correctional facilities across Nigeria.
Through this project, Pralarg International deploys trained and designated volunteers to periodically visit correctional facilities, working closely with welfare officers and prison authorities to identify inmates who require urgent intervention, legal representation, rehabilitation support, and post-release empowerment.
The Problem
Many inmates remain in custody not because they are dangerous to society, but because they lack access to legal representation, cannot pay minor fines, or have no structured rehabilitation support while serving their sentences. Some inmates with short sentences of less than one year may remain incarcerated simply because they cannot afford to pay fines in lieu of sentence.
Without intervention, many return to society without skills, support, or hope, increasing the risk of poverty, stigma, and reoffending.
What We Do
Through this campaign, Pralarg International will:
- Provide legal assistance to inmates who cannot afford representation
- Support inmates eligible for payment of fines in lieu of sentence
- Work with welfare officers to identify vulnerable inmates needing urgent help
- Sponsor vocational, educational, and skills-acquisition training programs
- Support rehabilitation programs that prepare inmates for life after prison
- Assist released inmates with reintegration and empowerment opportunities
- Promote dignity, justice, and lawful living within correctional communities
